Veterinary Assistant

Hi, I’m Courtney, and I am a veterinary assistant at Pinnacle. I have been in the clinic setting for about 2 years but have been hands on with animals since my freshman year of high school. I am currently an undergraduate student at Clemson University studying animal and veterinary science to hopefully attend vet school.

I have always had a love for animals and found myself handling them any chance I got. But I quickly gained interest in the veterinary side when I saw animal after animal come into the shelter, all from different backgrounds, and the need for us to advocate for them. Being able to see all the sides of vet med like public education, successful patient outcomes, conservation, etc. has only made me fall more in love.

At home, I am currently raising a 10-month-old standard poodle named Gary, through The Guide Dog Foundation, in hopes for him to become a guide dog to help the visually impaired. He is a high-spirited, goofy boy who would play fetch for hours. He also loves his pupsicles or anything with peanut butter.

Outside of work, I love to be active. Walking, paddle boarding, crafting (currently into making dog bandannas); are a few of my favorites. I also love to try new things, whether it is a new food item or a new trail, I am down to try it. My favorite out of all of these would be baking. I have a huge, sweet tooth, so a quick batch of cookies is always a must!

My favorite thing about working at Pinnacle, is the work environment and the other staff members. The environment is so fun and encouraging. Everyone is so positive regardless of what is thrown in front of them. They are constantly helping me learn new things so I have the best foundation possible. It is super refreshing to be able to work along side those who share your same passion.
