Frequently Asked Questions
Why Are Shorter Training Sessions Better?
Short, focused sessions—around 10–15 minutes—are ideal because dogs naturally have brief attention spans. Keeping training sessions short helps your dog:
- Stay focused and engaged
- Avoid boredom, frustration, or stress
- Learn and retain cues more effectively
- View training as a fun, rewarding activity
Ending sessions on a positive note helps your dog feel successful and eager for the next session. Shorter sessions also reduce frustration for both the dog and the handler, strengthening the bond between you. We recommend that owners use these shorter sessions at home for the best results.
How Long Will My Dog Need Training?
Behavior concerns and associated training duration varies based on your dog’s needs and the behaviors being addressed. During your initial consultation, our trainer will create a customized training plan tailored to your pet.
As a general guideline, many obedience training concerns can be addressed in approximately six weeks, though this may differ depending on the individual dog.
For behavioral concerns, this will also vary depending on the issues at hand. If it is something the trainer can help with in training sessions, they can typically take around 6-8 weeks. If it’s something that solely needs to be handled at home, you will get step-by-step guidance from our trainer and be in constant communication with them during the process.
No matter the behavioral concern or obedience issue at hand, training only begins with the trainer. Consistency is key, meaning they will need guidance at home as well. You will be provided with step-by-step directions on this as well, which are catered to you and your pet.
What Do Vet Phobia Sessions Include?
Our vet-phobia program is designed to help dogs feel more confident and comfortable during veterinary visits.
What to Expect:
- Training occurs in phases, with each dog progressing at their own pace.
- Early visits focus solely on positive experiences—praise, treats (if allowed), and gentle interaction.
- No medical handling occurs during these first phases.
- The goal is to help your dog learn that the vet’s office is a safe place, not something to fear.
Once your dog shows comfort and willingly interacts with the trainer, we gradually introduce the next steps. While complete fear elimination cannot be guaranteed, we work to significantly reduce anxiety and build your dog’s confidence in the clinic setting.
Required Vaccinations
All pets participating in training must be current on the following vaccines:
- Rabies
